Benitatxell adheres to 'Libraries in Equality' to make visible and value female authorship

El Town hall of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell wants to recover and make visible female authorship and value those great women that the androcentric vision of society has erased from our history and our culture, for this reason it adheres to the project 'Libraries in Equality'.

He will do this Saturday, November 23, during the 'Breakfast between women and books' framed in the activities of the 25N. The municipality will read and sign the adhesion manifesto. For this, it will have the presence of Marina Gilabert, general secretary of Classics and Modern, driving association of 'Libraries in Equality', and Pepita García, poblera member of the collective and who has promoted this action in the municipality.

With this initiative, the Department of Equality, Gender and Diversity Policies, led by Victor Bisquert, intends to make available to all residents of the municipality the information and tools necessary to publicize the work of women who have been pioneers in many areas and which have not been recognized enough for it.

“Our society has a debt to all this set of creative women who neither study in textbooks nor have had enough visibility throughout history. With this small action, in which the municipal librarian, Lola Bolufer, has worked a lot, we want to make it easier for all people to enjoy a richer and more complete culture ”, said Bisquert.

Project 'Libraries in Equality'

'Libraries in Equality' is a national project that began a year ago. It has the support of the Ministry of Culture through its Reading Promotion Plan, since it is understood that libraries are strategic partners for the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), between Those found gender equality. For this, it includes the adhesion to a manifesto, different activities to promote the reading of women writers and the commitment to complete the bibliographic collections with a gender perspective.
