Benitatxell will not charge the occupation of terraces to bars until 2021

26 June 2020 - 00: 13

On Thursday afternoon, the El Poble Nou de Benitatxell corporation held the plenary session in June. With the absence, once again, of the four councilors of the opposition - it is the third time that they do not attend a telematic plenary session - the first measure of the aid package aimed at small entrepreneurs in the municipality has been approved to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 crisis.

As stated in one of the points of the plenary day, a modification has been made to the ordinance regulating the occupancy rate of tables and chairs. Thanks to this measure, the hoteliers will not have to pay this fee until 2021, as the rate was suspended until December 31.

"It is the first of the measures that go through the plenary to help the business sector, in this case the hospitality sector, in everything we can", has pointed out the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, who has taken the opportunity to advance that in a few weeks economic aid will be published with municipal funds for the self-employed and small businesses in the municipality.

"We have already prepared a draft of the bases for aid to the self-employed and SMEs that today (by yesterday Thursday) has been sent to the General Directorate of Local Administration of the Department of Commerce to request authorization of compatibility, so that we can offer them in the municipality. Now all that remains is to wait for their approval. ”

Among other things, the plenary also approved an urgent motion for the ordinary session on August 27 to be held on September 24, given that August is a non-business month and many neighbors are on vacation. "We want to guarantee transparency and that the entire population can access the plenary information", Més Benitatxell's spokesman, Víctor Bisquert, has affirmed.

Cala del Moraig Reserve for limited capacity

Likewise, in the requests and questions section, the government team has taken the opportunity to announce the expected reopening of the Moraig cove, which will reopen its accesses on Saturday July 4 after a few weeks closed due to the works being carried out by Costas after the damage of the storm Gloria. As progress has already been made on different occasions, the beach will have a limited capacity of about 400 people and it will be necessary to reserve a place through the 'AparcarE' application.

Capelletes Building

The local government has also celebrated the recent announcement of the rehabilitation of the Capelletes building thanks to the 'Reconstruïm Pobles' program, which will finance the project with 500.000 euros (250.000 euros in 2021 and an additional 250.000 in 2022). The new building will be used to provide more space to municipal offices.

Absence of the opposition

At the beginning of his speech, the first mayor has informed, once again, of the non-attendance of the four councilors of the RED-CV municipal group to the telematic plenary session. As already emphasized in previous sessions, telematic plenary sessions are totally legal and “We have been doing it this way because the table in the plenary hall is not spacious enough to respect the meter and a half of distance. We have no interest in celebrating it this way, and we will return to the traditional formula as soon as possible. ”García points out.

The mayor regretted the little collaboration from the opposition and clarified that the governing board of the Water Consortium last week did connect, so it is not a problem of lack of means.
