The Poble Nou de Benitatxell continues with the measures to improve mobility in the municipality and decides to make definitive the experimental roundabout of the road of Xàbia and the avenue of Valencia.
The roundabout responded to the need to regulate the traffic in a conflictive crossing since this road has experienced an increase in cars. In view of this situation, a provisional and experimental roundabout of 2,8 meters with a diameter marked with plastic bollards but no final decision was placed at this junction.
For the local government, correcting this situation was a priority decision, in fact it was addressed within a week of arriving at the executive with the technical team. The first premise was that it is urgent to create a definitive roundabout that corrects the deficiencies detected in which it has worked provisionally. To do this, the horizontal signage (the painting on the road) will be adapted to the direction of circulation in this roundabout. This will avoid the confusion that in these four months of testing those marks on the road have generated in drivers.
The mayor, Miguel Ángel García, has indicated that "We cannot let measures that are taken experimentally be perpetuated, which is what was happening with this roundabout. We know that the Local Police had been asking for time to resolve incongruities such as that of road paint that, in addition to confusing, is not conforms to traffic rules in a roundabout. "
Final project
The local government is already working on the project to resurface this crossing and design and build the permanent roundabout. That project will define horizontal and vertical signage. It will also establish the new diameter of the roundabout and the measures that must be taken to ensure the safety of pedestrians. It must be remembered that this section is urban and the maximum speed of traffic is 30 km / h. The roadway will also be painted. If the need for new pedestrian crossings will be considered.
