On the occasion of the November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Department of Equality, Gender Policies and Diversity of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, by Victor Bisquert, has prepared a program of commemorative activities that They will be held from 16 to November 30.
One of the main acts of the week will be the construction of a symbolic wall against sexist violence. It is an action that invites the active participation of society and is divided into two acts. The first, to be held this Saturday, November 16, will consist of a workshop through which empowering phrases are stamped on cardboard boxes to tackle the fight against gender violence. The activity will continue on Friday 22 with the construction of the wall and a performance in the Mercat square. To participate, prior registration is required through the email joventut@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.org.
The events will continue on Saturday 23, at 10:00 am, in the municipal library with the 'Breakfast between books and women', a reading marathon of texts written by women with the aim of promoting equality in the world of writing. Participants are encouraged to bring books from their favorite or bookmarked authors.
The Department of Equality, Gender and Diversity Policies also understands that education in non-macho values since childhood is essential. Therefore, activities aimed at children will also have an important section with the reading of a manifesto in the schoolyard in which the municipal authorities will participate. It will be Monday 25 of November at 12: 30 hours in the courtyard of the CEIP Santa María Magdalena. That same day, a blood donation has been scheduled at 17: 00 hours at the Health Center and the experiential workshop 'History of abuse' in the library at 19: 30 hours.
The afternoon of Tuesday the 26th will be dedicated to raising awareness among young people. At 17:00 p.m. the youth coach service will open in the building of Servicios Sociales, and at 18:00 p.m. a sexual education workshop will be held (registration at joventut@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.org) for young people from 12 years of age at the Municipal Library.
The week will come to an end with the visibility of Social Services through a video presentation and the storyteller / workshop 'Yes that is pot…'. The first act will take place on Wednesday 27 at 19: 00h in l'Espai Molí, and the storyteller will be held at the Library on Saturday 30 at 11: 00h.
“We have prepared a very participatory program to go out and reach as many people as possible, trying to attract many profiles. Because the fight against sexist violence is everyone's business, and it is important that we be aware from a very young age ”, explained the Councilor for Equality, Gender and Diversity Policies, Victor Bisquert.
