Baleària and Fred. Olsen Express launch a new route that connects the peninsula with the Canary Islands

November 12 from 2018 - 11: 27

The new maritime routes that operate Baleària and Fred. Olsen Express connect the peninsula with the Canary Islands. The departure port is Huelva and it is carried out aboard the passenger and cargo ferry Martín i Soler, which last Friday made its maiden voyage.

The president of Baleària, Adolfo Utor, and the general director of Fred. Olsen SA, Andrés Marín, presided over the ceremony, accompanied by José Luis Ramos, president of the Port Authority of Huelva. The event was attended by Ignacio Caraballo, president of the Diputación de Huelva, Manuela Parralo, sub-delegate of the Government in Huelva, and Gabriel Cruz, mayor of Huelva, as well as a large institutional representation of the area, as well as travel agencies and cargo customers.

The route has a triangular configuration between the ports of Huelva, La Luz in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The departures from the Peninsula are on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 20: 00h, while from the Canary Islands they are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, at 12: 00 from Gran Canaria and at 20: 00 from Tenerife. These schedules guarantee connections with the rest of the inter-island traffic lines, providing an integral service to customers.

Two vessels have been destined to the route, the Martín i Soler, which allows passengers, vehicles and cargo to be transported, and the Clipper Pennant, exclusively for cargo transport, which will start operating this Sunday, 11 day. Both ships will alternate in the exits of the route, so that every two weeks there will be three exits of single load and other three exits of passengers and load.

The sale of tickets has been available for several weeks, through the usual channels of both companies: offices, websites, call centers and associated travel agencies.
