Joan Baldoví, the ombudsman of Compromís in Les Corts, visited Xàbia today with Amparo Piquer, General Secretary of Més – Compromís, at one of the events of the European electoral campaign. Accompanied by the local spokesperson, Carme Català, they toured the Municipal Market and were present in the Plaza Celestino Pons, where they distributed explanatory brochures about their project, whose motto is 'Plantem cara'.
During his visit, Baldoví encouraged citizens to go out and vote next Sunday, underscoring the importance of electoral participation: «We have a lot at stake. It is not only a matter of preventing the extreme right from ruling in Europe and curtailing rights and freedoms, it is also crucial to have a Valencian representation that knows the problems of our country and is prepared to represent us.
Baldoví highlighted three key aspects of voting for Compromís: «First, ensuring that Valencians have a voice in Europe to decide on issues that affect us. Second, oppose strong resistance to the regressive policies of the Popular Party and Vox government. And third, having a Valencian force, from the land, present in all towns.
The candidate also explained the specific advantages for the local community, such as the importance of having a representative who negotiates fishing quotas and fleet stoppage days, stressing that "it is essential that people understand that voting is also defending these interests." ».
For her part, Carme Català highlighted the relevance of voting in a context of climate change: "It is vital that we vote to safeguard our nature, agriculture and fishing, and to no longer suffer the consequences of climate change."
In addition, Català mentioned the needs of Xàbia in education, pointing out that "we have three centers pending construction and we believe that voting for a better Europe is also voting for a much better Xàbia and a Valencian Country."
With their visit, Baldoví and Català tried to convey the importance of electoral participation and the benefits of having Valencian representation in Europe, urging the citizens of Xàbia to exercise their right to vote this Sunday.
