The Xàbia Folk has its first date this week. On Friday, April 22, the House of Culture will host the inaugural concert of this XNUMXth anniversary, an exquisite journey through various sonorities starring 'Eixa', which will present its latest album “Invisibles”.

Eixa is a group led by the versatile Valencian composer, Isabel Latorre, who fuses Mediterranean folk with early music, jazz and other experimental languages. In Xàbia it is presented in a quartet format (Isabel Latorre: voice, piano, accordion; Gloria Aleza: voice, cello, viella and nyckelharpa; Alfonso del Corral: guitar, lapsteel guitar and lute; and Esteban Rodrigo: percussion).

His latest album, Invisibles, is inspired by the text of Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, which links the show with literature. Themes created from poems by José Agustín Goytisolo or Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas are also included.

The performance, scheduled at 20:13 p.m., has free access and closes the presentation to the public of the festival program scheduled for May 15 to XNUMX, which this year has the prestigious piper Carlos Núñez as headliner, who will share the stage with the Colla The Xafigà of Muro d'Alcoi, and other interesting proposals such as that of the Kurdish Gani Mirzo and his project "The Route of Dignity", committed to refugees fleeing the war (a significant part of its cache is allocated to the refugees from Duhok) a sadly topical situation now also in Europe.

The festival will close as usual with an intimate performance in the hermitage of Santa Llúcia, this year starring Carol Duran and Nuria Lozano, two fundamental artists in the creation and composition of Catalan music.
