An amphora of more than 2000 years will be part of the Museum of Xàbia thanks to the donation of the Álvarez-Ossorio family

The family, accompanied by agents of the Seprona of the Civil Guard, have delivered this precious marine treasure that the father of the Álvarez-Ossorio had in his house in Xàbia for more than XNUMX years, according to the municipal archaeologist, Ximo Bolufer. .

Bolufer has indicated that it was the will of the father, now deceased, that the Amphora be in the Museum. The find was made by a diver in the area of ​​the Cape San Antonio, In the Tangó Creek Several decades ago when the laws did not regulate that they had to be delivered to the public administration.

The diver gave it to the father of Álvarez Ossorio, who has kept it throughout his life and instructed his children to deliver it to the Museum of Xàbia when he died. This process has been legalized this morning.

Ximo Bolufer, explained that this amphora is in perfect state of preservation, completely whole, and was used for the transportation of wine. Now it will be part of the marine archeology room of the Soler Blasco Museum in Xàbia.
