The Association Friends of the Soler Blasco Museum Xàbia (AMUX) has organized for Wednesday, November 13, a commented visit to the old cemetery and to the hermitage of Sant Joan and its necropolis. Those interested in learning more about the funerary heritage can join the tour that will begin at 16:30 p.m. at the entrance to the churchyard.
The old cemetery of Xàbia, unused since the year 1989, still maintains some of the elements and structures of a nineteenth-century cemetery. Stresses the late-Gothic hermitage of Saints Juanes, converted into a funerary chapel from the 1817.
This space, archeologically excavated the year 2010, shows a set of tombs on the gleba and several funeral panels of Valencian ceramics, originating from the chapel, which have been restored and recently reinstalled in the hermitage.
