Students of the Senior UNED of Xàbia and Dénia visit the archaeological site of Lucentum

The students of the UNED Senior course "Egypt" It has closed its course with an excursion to the archaeological site of Lucentum in the municipality of Alicante. It was the 24 of May when the students of the course of Egyptian Civilization of the UNED Senior of Dénia and Xàbia visited the site also known as Tossal de Manises.

Later they moved to the MARQ to visit the temporary exhibition specifically 'Iran, cradle of civilizations' with her teacher Patricia Miñana. The origins of the site began at the end of the 5th century BC. of C. early IV a. de C. It is one of the most important sites in our territory because it is a Roman city studied with depth. 

It has several construction phases but it is from the XNUMXst century BC. Until the XNUMXst century AD. of C. when the name of Lucentum appears and at that time derives a period of splendor due to the acquired title of Roman Municipium in the time of Augustus with buildings. At the site, they were able to visit the Pompilio hot springs, the forum and tour the urban layout surrounded by walls and gates from different construction stages.

Then they visited the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante to enjoy the wonderful exhibition of Iran. A movement of peoples and peoples: Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Elamites, Persians, Parthians, Romans and Greeks; a history of mythical cities, such as Persepolis or Isfahan, and powerful kings like Cyrus the Great. Remember that Iran with the Persian Empire seized Egypt in the sixth century BC. of C. 

The pieces, which come from the Drents Museum of Holland Foundation of the Tehran museum, are 196 pieces with incomparable jewels of extreme beauty and samples of the first writing of civilization, the Mesopotamian cuneiform writing. They enjoyed the exhibition with a guide specialized in the history of Iran. Finally, they ate at the MARQ restaurant.
