The Department of Equality, Gender and Diversity Policies and the Punt Violeta of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell have organized for next Friday, May 1 'Alliberem-nos', the first virtual debate on gender equality and empowerment. The objective is to create a space to debate and share ideas about feminism in times of coronavirus and the role that municipal equality policies play.
The idea is born after the success of the course 'Gender equality and feminism (s) today' taught by the Miguel Hernández University in the municipality, and what is sought now is to take advantage of the synergy of the group of more than 40 people that was formed to continue discussing this matter.
“Many of the participants suggested forming a discussion group after the course ended, but the health alert paralyzed everything. However, since the tools we have are so many, why not do it virtually? ”, pointed out the councilor for Equality, Víctor Bisquert, who clarified that the debate is open to everyone who is interested.
The mayor stressed that this is expected to be the first of many debates. In the next, equality will be treated from different perspectives such as human rights, environmentalism, etc. "What we intend is to create a space for debate where we can all contribute our vision to grow on a personal level and so that ideas can be collected and developed in municipal policies."
How to participate?
To participate it is necessary to send an email to puntvioleta@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.org or a private message to the Instagram of @puntvioletabenitatxell indicating name and surname. Then, an ID and password will be provided to access it through the Zoom app. The appointment is scheduled for Friday, May 1 from 18:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m., although the date and time are subject to possible changes.
