The Audience of Alicante yesterday acquitted eight detainees of a criminal gang that carried out more than 20 robberies 10 years ago when canceling telephone interventions "because it is not based on any means of investigation or on any indication" as requested by defense attorneys.
In this case, the court of Dénia prosecuted, in his day, 23 involved in robberies in houses and shops but only nine went to trial, leaving a detainee charged and sentenced to 15 months in jail for finding his DNA in one of the scenarios Of the thefts.
The band, which was divided into two groups and performed in different Spanish cities, made a total of 20 thefts of which, seven were in houses in Ibiza, Dénia and Xàbia.
The defendants acquitted faced sentences of between two and five years in prison and a civil liability of almost 400.000 euros for the stolen effects and damage caused to shops and homes. The other detained 14, who did not go to trial, are declared by the court in a situation of rebellion.
