Last Saturday, 16, in December, took place, at the Casal de Fogueres de Xàbia, the beginning of the II School Circuit of Chess Sub 16 CEMA. A tournament in which a total of 18 children participated from all the schools and institutes of Xàbia and the municipalities of the region such as Calpe, Xàbia, Benissa, Moraira, Benitatxell, Gata de Gorgos and Dénia.
This appointment corresponded to the first scoring tournament for this second circuit of CEMA of this 2017-2018 and comprising the categories S8, S10, S12, S14 and S16. Given the high level of requirement of the test, the winners of each of the categories, from this first phase were Joan Roselló Bou, Marc Bisquert Frigols, Àngela Ferrer Cabrera, Antoni Bertomeu Ginestar and Samuel Staneke.
During the tournament, the participants gradually gained self-confidence and quickly understood the rules and regulations of the game in comxicotetion.
Among the participants was the participation of Antoni Bertomeu, a strong Benissa player who is part of and plays federated with the CE Xàbia and is in the select group of children participating in the Spanish Chess Championships for ages.
Likewise, Samuel Staneke, Gabriel Negrillo, Àngela Ferrer, Àngel Perez, and others more than their young age already have an international ranking and great experience in tournaments.
The tournament was played five rounds per player to Swiss system. The players were divided into five different categories and the winners of each one were awarded.

- 2º Toni Nieto Bou ....... 2 points of the Port de Xàbia School.
- 3º Iris Cholbi Chrysostom ..... 1 point of the Port de Xàbia School.
En Sub category 10 the best classified:
-1º Marc Bisquert Frigols ............... 1 point of the Graüll de Xàbia School.
En Sub category 12 nine children participated and the first three classified:
-1º Àngela Ferrer Cabrera ............. 3,5 CE points Calp.
-2º Àngel Perez Roig .................... 3 points of CE Xàbia.
-3º David Cabrera Dominguez .......... 3 CE points Calp.
En Sub category 14 the best classified:
-1º Antoni Bertomeu Ginestar ......... 5 points belonging to CE Benissa.
En Sub category 16 Two children participated:
-1º Samuel Staneke ................... 4 CE points Calp.
-2º Gabriel Negrillo Godfrey ........ 3,5 points of the CE Calp.
At the end of the tournament, all the participants received their well-deserved trophies from the sports councilor of Xàbia, Vicent Colomer, of the President of the CE Benissa Antoni Bertomeu Ivars and of the Vice President of the CE Xàbia Cristobal Erades.
Five tournaments in different venues
Now, on each day there will be a provisional classification of each category and each player will be added the points of the test that disputes. The circuit is scheduled for the dispute of five tournaments in different venues. At the end of all the tests a global classification will be made and the three best players classified in each category will be rewarded, obtaining their trophies as the best players of the CEMA 2017-2018 circuit.
Next Saturday afternoon will be held at the House of Culture from Calpe the CE Calp Christmas tournament, which will serve as a set-up for the kids for the following tests of the CEMA Circuit.
